Congressman Rob Menendez to Travel for Second Time to U.S. – Mexico Border

 

Menendez Joins House Committee on Homeland Security Democrats to Review U.S. Customs and Border Protection Operations

 

 

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – Today, Congressman Rob Menendez will join the House Committee on Homeland Security (CHS) Democrats at the southern border in McAllen and Brownsville, Texas to conduct a site visit at United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities and meet with local officials.

 

“After decades of inaction on comprehensive solutions that address the systematic challenges within our immigration system and evolving root causes of migration, we must take real action this Congress,” said Congressman Rob Menendez. “I look forward to joining Ranking Member Thompson and our Democratic delegation to oversee operations at Customs and Border Protection facilities and meet with officials to discuss serious solutions that will ensure migrants are treated with dignity and respect at our southern border while keeping our country secure.”

 

Congressman Menendez is traveling with a delegation that includes CHS Ranking Member Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS-2), and Committee Members Reps. Troy Carter (D-LA-2), Lou Correa (D-CA-46), Glenn Ivey (D-MD-4), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX-18), Seth Magaziner (D-RI-2), Delia Ramirez (D-IL-3), Shri Thanedar (D-MI-13), and Dina Titus (D-NV-1).

 

The delegation will meet with local officials and community leaders, and U.S. CBP leaders and personnel in visits that include the Brownsville Port of Entry, the Rio Grande Valley Sector Centralized Processing Center, and an aerial tour of CBP operations.

 

Congressman Menendez previously visited the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Texas as his first official trip on February 2nd – February 4th, 2023.
