Congressman Sires Announces Over $40 Million in Relief Funds for Community Health Centers

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ) announced funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for Community Health Centers as part of the American Rescue Plan:

“The awarding of these funds from HHS to Community Health Centers is welcome news that will help them continue to offer residents necessary services during this public health emergency.  Since the start of the pandemic, Community Health Centers have played an important role in offering a continuation of medical services that may have been hindered due to COVID-19. They have also played a crucial role in informing the public about the dangers of COVID-19, and have worked to provide thousands of COVID-19 tests. As we move forward with the rollout of the vaccine, Community Health Centers will continue to play an important role; vaccinating individuals and reaching into communities to ensure everyone has an opportunity to receive the vaccine.”

As part of the American Rescue Plan, $7.6 billion was allocated to HHS to be distributed to Community Health Centers across the country. The following Community Health Centers in the 8th District received funding:

North Hudson Community Action Corporation $18,121,750
Newark Community Health Centers, Inc. $10,444,875
Saint James Health, Inc. $1,017,500
HOPES COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP, INC. $10,839,491
Ironbound Community Health Center Inc. $500,000
