Congressman Sires Appointed to the House Committee on the Budget for the 117th Congress

(Washington, D.C.) – On January 27, 2021, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced that Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ) would serve on the House Committee on the Budget for the 117th Congress. He will continue to serve on the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.

“I am honored to once again serve on the House Budget no Committee under the leadership of Chairman Yarmuth,” said Rep. Sires. “Last Congress, the Budget Committee looked at numerous important issues that impact millions of Americans and the federal budget, including immigration, poverty, climate change, and heath care systems. The Budget Committee will ave an important role to play as we work with the Biden administration to effectively respond to the pandemic and its economic impacts. I am eager to get to work to enact real change for my constituents and meet the needs of families across the country in this challenging time.”

The House Committee on the Budget is responsible for enacting budget policy and legislative oversight over the nation’s budget. The annual budget resolution to set levels of federal spending falls under the jurisdiction of the Committee. More information can be found on the Committee website here.
