Congressman Sires Statement on the Passing of Congressman Alcee Hastings

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Sires released the following statement:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and colleague, Alcee Hastings. He was a committed public servant who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents in Florida’s 20^th District. It was my privilege to serve with Congressman Hastings for nearly 15 years in the House of Representatives, where I came to know a man who cared deeply for his country, and never stopped fighting to make it better. Congressman Hastings was a cherished member of our caucus, and will be greatly missed by many. I offer my sincerest condolences to his family during this time of loss.”
