Congressman Sires’ Statement on Shooting in Los Angeles

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Albio Sires released the following statement after the shooting of two Los Angeles County deputies:

“As our nation confronts the systemic racism that has pervaded our society for far too long, we must remember the goal of our mission: for all people to be treated fairly, justly, with empathy, and to be able to live without the threat of violence. The shooting of two Los Angeles County deputies goes directly against what we are trying to achieve. Beyond that, it was a cowardly and cruel act of violence. If we are going to make true changes in our society, we have to value the humanity of every single person.”
