Congressman Sires Votes in Favor of Fiscal Year 2022 Omnibus

 

(Washington, DC) – Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ) voted in favor of H.R. 2471, an omnibus spending bill that includes funding for the remainder of fiscal year 2022 as well as funding for Community Projects in New Jersey’s 8th District.

 

“Thursday night, I proudly voted in favor of legislation that contains historic investments for hard working Americans across the country,” stated Rep. Sires. The funding package includes efforts to improve the quality of life for families by expanding child care programs, investing in public schools, expanding access to home ownership, and increasing the maximum Pell Grant award by $400. Additionally, the package includes initiatives that will create jobs, support the vulnerable, strengthen public health, address the climate crisis, and also includes a reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. “This package not only includes vital funding to address challenges faced by many, but also includes dedicated funding for that I secured for projects in New Jersey’s 8th District. I’m eager to see the impact that these projects will have on our communities.”

 

Rep. Sires secured Community Project Funding for the following projects:

 

• $1,100,000 for Closed-Circuit Television for a Safer Union City

• $980,000 for technology systems at Hudson County Community College

• $750,000 for college prep and success activities at Stevens Institute of Technology

• $5,000,000 for the Russell Golding Park Project in Bayonne, NJ

• $2,250,000 for the West New York Pier 93 Project in West New York, NJ

• $532,240 for traffic light replacement on Broad Street, East/West Grand Street in Elizabeth, NJ

• $250,000 for the Hoboken Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Station Project
