Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill Endorses Jenny Mundell for Bloomfield Mayor

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield Mayoral candidate Jenny Mundell is very proud to announce that she has received a major endorsement from Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill. Representing New Jersey’s 11th District, Congresswoman Sherrill previously served as a helicopter pilot in the United States Navy from 1994-2003, as well as in the US Attorneys’ Office for the District of New Jersey, before running for office in 2018 and becoming the first Democrat to hold her seat since 1984.

“I have had the privilege of working alongside Councilwoman Mundell on numerous occasions and have witnessed her track record of initiatives that have directly impacted quality of life for Bloomfield residents,” said Congresswoman Sherrill. “Jenny’s tireless commitment to addressing the needs of her community and her innovative approach to governance make her the ideal candidate, and the fact that she will become the first woman to serve as Mayor of Bloomfield makes this campaign even more historic and exciting.”

Mundell has been endorsed by the Essex County Democratic Committee, Inc. and is running alongside Joe Biden for President, Andy Kim for Senate, Mikie Sherrill for Congress, Amir Jones for Sheriff, Juan Rivera for Register,  and Monica Charris Tabares for Council at-Large.

“I am so honored to receive Congresswoman Sherrill’s endorsement because she is a true inspiration to our entire community as a lifelong public servant who always stands up for us,” said Councilwoman Mundell. “Mikie Sherrill’s knowledge and understanding of effective leadership served her greatly throughout her time in the military and now as a member of Congress, and I know that she is someone I can always turn to for valuable insight and support. I’m excited to continue working with Congresswoman Sherrill to keep moving Bloomfield forward!”

In endorsing Mundell, Congresswoman Sherrill joins a growing list of Democratic support including former Bloomfield Mayor and current State Assemblyman Mike Venezia, as well as President of the Essex County Board of Commissioners Carlos Pomares and Councilwoman Sarah Cruz. If victorious, Mundell will be the first woman to serve as Mayor in Bloomfield’s history.
