Congresswoman Pou Hammers Trump Admin Slashing 911 Responder Health Support
PATERSON, NJ – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) today blasted the Trump government for firing workers at the World Trade Center Health Program, a vital group tasked with providing health benefits to September 11, 2001 first responders.
“Just when the Trump government seems like it can’t get any lower, they sink some more,” said Congresswoman Pou. “Cutting funding and personnel at the World Trade Center Health Program which supports our heroic first responders and firefighters is cruel and unconscionable. If this government will slash support to 911 heroes and survivors, they will target any American. This is an outrage and should be immediately reversed.”
Pou represents North Arlington, New Jersey, the hometown of James Zadroga, the first New York Police Department officer whose death was attributed to toxic exposure from working at Ground Zero. The World Trade Center Health Program was created by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010.
