Congresswoman Pou Urges Meticulous Investigation of DCA Crash

PATERSON, NJ – Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09), Vice Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Aviation Subcommittee today expressed sympathy and urged caution from policymakers and others in evaluating the causes of the tragic Flight 5342 crash.

“Our entire nation today mourns this catastrophic accident and the lives lost above our nation’s capital,” said Congresswoman Pou. “The National Transportation Safety Board, Federal Aviation Administration, and other state and local agencies are working together to find answers. These agencies and experts must be allowed to do their important jobs without political interference or cruelty. Too many speculative statements today on the accident have been unwelcome, unhelpful, hurtful, and unhinged. The current vacuum in FAA leadership could not be timed worse. This is the first major American commercial crash in 16 years. That tragic incident affected families across northern New Jersey. As we did then, we must get to the bottom of what happened so this is never repeated.”
