Corrado Earns Legislator of the Year Award for Commitment to NJ Economy

Senator Kristin Corrado was honored for her unflinching support of the business community at the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce Legislative and Business Awards Reception on Wednesday in Bedminster.

The Chamber presented Corrado, a small-business owner herself, with a Legislator of the Year Award for fighting to make New Jersey more hospitable to employers.

“It’s an honor to be acknowledged by the Chamber for my efforts to make New Jersey more competitive,” said Corrado (R – 40). “I am proud of my work at the State House and in my district to improve the environment for employers of all sizes and the residents who depend on them for jobs. Our state has a well-earned reputation for stacking the deck against growth, and I am committed to convincing Trenton that raising taxes and adding new mandates cannot solve New Jersey’s fiscal woes.”

The Chamber lauded Corrado for sponsoring several pro-economy bills including a measure (S2298) signed into law in June to increase tax credits under the New Jersey Angel Investor Tax Credit Act, and another (S3569) to eliminate the excessive surtax on the corporation business tax.

“Business is the backbone of our economy, creating jobs and feeding families,” said Corrado. “I am proud to sponsor legislation promoting opportunity with tax incentives for employers for hiring individuals with disabilities. The Legislature must enact initiatives encouraging growth and reverse policies impeding economic expansion.”

Corrado was joined by three other honorees from the state Legislature, including Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco, and Business Advocate of the Year recipient Dennis G. Wilson, president and CEO of Delta Dental of New Jersey.

According to the Chamber, the honorees were selected for their substantive action to improve the state’s economic climate and make New Jersey more affordable and competitive.
