CORRADO HONORS SETON HALL MEN’S BASKETBALL on 2024 NIT CHAMPIONSHIP

August 13, 2024

Senator Kristin M. Corrado (R-40) visited Seton Hall University in South Orange on Aug. 12, 2024 to present Seton Hall Men’s Basketball Head Coach Shaheen Holloway and Athletic Director Bryan Felt with a proclamation on behalf of the New Jersey Senate in recognition of the Pirates’ 2024 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Championship in April.

While gathered at the Seton Hall Athletics Hall of Fame in the Richie Regan Athletic Center with staff, alumni, and fans, Senator Corrado congratulated Coach Holloway on his team’s historic season.

“Despite being left out of the Big Dance in what has been called the biggest snub in NCAA tournament history, Coach Holloway and the Pirates agreed to play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and gave Seton Hall fans a thrilling and historic run that has cemented their place in school history,” said Senator Corrado.

“Coach Holloway and the Seton Hall Pirates continue to make New Jersey so proud,” said Senator Corrado, an alum of Seton Hall University School of Law. “An NIT championship is another amazing accomplishment in Coach Holloway’s career and we look forward to cheering on the Pirates during their upcoming season.”

Senator Corrado has been a strong advocate for the safety and mental health of college athletes and the integrity of sports wagering. Earlier this year, she introduced legislation, S-3080, that would prohibit player-specific proposition bets on collegiate sports in New Jersey, which have led to a rise in the harassment of student-athletes. She also introduced S-3300 that would establish a hotline for reporting behavior negatively affecting the integrity of sporting events.
