Senator Kristin M. Corrado released the following statement on Equal Pay Day:

“Our daughters should learn about Equal Pay Day in the classroom, instead of experiencing wage discrimination in the workplace,” Senator Corrado (R-40) said. “In New Jersey, I was proud to join the fight to close the gender pay gap by voting yes on the Diane B. Allen Equal Pay Act last year.

“Our fight is far from over. I will continue to work to ensure a person’s gender does not play a role in the opportunities they have to succeed in the working world.”

Equal Pay Day symbolizes how far into the year women must work to catch up to the average salaries their male colleagues earned the previous year. The date differs from year to year. In 2019, it falls on April 2.

Senator Corrado remains a strong supporter of the fight to end wage discrimination, having voted for New Jersey’s 2018 equal pay law and sponsored her own equal pay protections in the Legislature.
