THE CORRADO TEAM FILES FOR DISTRICT 40 REPUBLICAN PRIMARY ELECTION
March 30, 2017
The District 40 Republican legislative team of Kristin M. Corrado for Senate, Kevin J. Rooney and Christopher P. DePhillips for General Assembly filed their candidate petitions yesterday for the June 6 Republican Primary Election.
Corrado, Rooney and DePhillips will run together as a team in all four counties that make up District 40 – Bergen, Essex, Morris and Passaic.
“Over the past year I have come to know Kevin and Chris and am proud to call them my runningmates. We are running as a united team for the state legislature because we believe it’s time for fresh faces and new ideas in Trenton. It’s time to turn New Jersey around and make it affordable for working families and senior citizens,” said Corrado.
“For too long our communities have been left to bear the brunt of high taxes with no regard for how unaffordable New Jersey has become. That won’t happen when we are elected. Our focus is on ensuring that whatever happens in Trenton we will work to ensure that New Jersey becomes affordable for all of our citizens,” said Corrado.
The team will focus their campaign on addressing issues of primary concern to the district including property taxes, equitable education funding, and creating jobs and growing the economy.
“Property taxes are crushing families and forcing senior citizens to make the devastating decision to leave their homes, family and friends behind and move to a more affordable state. We will make sure Trenton begins addressing this issue in a meaningful and impactful way. We will fight to cut spending at the state level and ensure that our communities are receiving their fair share of resources from the state,” says Rooney.
DePhillips said the team also wants to focus on growing the state economy and creating more well paying jobs, especially for young people. “Businesses are fleeing New Jersey, which has one of the worst business climates in the nation because of the state’s high taxes and excessive regulations. There is a perception that New Jersey doesn’t want businesses to locate and invest here. I am confident that we will change that perception and help grow our economy and create good jobs for all New Jerseyans,” said DePhillips.
