Councilmember James Solomon Introduces New Staff to Ward E

JERSEY CITY NJ – Today, Councilmember James Solomon announced his new staff hires for the Ward E office. They will manage the day-to-day operations of the office, ensure constituent requests are fulfilled, and contribute to the Councilman’s progressive agenda for the ward and city.

“My new staff will be an important addition to making sure my office remains efficient, transparent, and effective,,” said Councilman Solomon. “I am grateful to have them by my side as we work together for people of Ward E and the whole city.”

“I am excited to return to Councilman Solomon’s office and continue the work of serving this ward,” said Kristel Mejia-Asqui, Director of Constituent Services. “I previously interned for Councilman Solomon’s office during my final semester at NJCU. My internship with Councilman Solomon’s team taught me the importance of simple and transparent communication between local government and the community. I will continue serving Ward E residents to the best of my abilities and contribute to creating open channels of communication where Jersey City residents can feel heard.”

“As the son of an immigrant and person of color I am committed to standing up for the oppressed and giving a voice to the unheard,” said Brandon Syphrett, Outreach Director. “My political work began as an organizer in Philadelphia for the successful presidential campaign for Joe Biden, after being trained by Organizing Corps 2020 to become a Field Organizer. Following the election I graduated from New Jersey City University with a bachelor’s in Political Science with a focus on international relations, and am now excited to work with Councilman Solomon and for the people of Ward E.”

“I’m a lifelong resident of the Greenville section of Jersey City, and it was my experience growing up here that inspired my pursuit of policy,” said Issac Smith, Legislative/Political Director. “I graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Public Policy; my primary interests are good urban planning and affordable housing. I’m looking forward to using whatever skills I have to help Councilman Solomon serve you, the people of Ward E, the best that we can.”

James Solomon represents downtown Jersey City as the Ward E Councilperson. He’s focused on building a just city, with affordable housing and improved mass transit, bicycling, and pedestrian infrastructure. He is also an adjunct professor of political science at Saint Peter’s University, New Jersey City University, and Hudson County Community College.
