Councilmen Signorino & McGuinness Announce Primary Campaign

West Milford, NJ ~ Current Republican Councilmen Luciano “Lou” Signorino and Peter McGuinness are proud to announce their candidacies in the 2019 Republican primary election, with Signorino running for Mayor of West Milford and McGuinness seeking re-election to the Township Council. The two incumbent Councilmen were denied the local Republican committee’s endorsement to run for office again Thursday night at a sparsely attended voting meeting in the back room of a bar in Oak Ridge.

Signorino, a three-term Councilman who has served as Council President three times, was not selected despite his three victories as a Republican for Council, many years of conservative leadership, and head-to-head victory over current Mayor Michele Dale in 2016 by the largest margin of votes in the history of the Township.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for Mayor of West Milford,” said Signorino. “Our township deserves strong, resourceful, and hands-on conservative leadership, and I am up for the task to bring these attributes to move West Milford forward.”

McGuinness, former chief and lifetime member of the Volunteer Fire Department, President of the Girls Softball Association, and long time town youth sports coach, was passed over for his own Council seat by the committee who selected two first time candidates connected to Dale.

“It is with great optimism and renewed commitment that I announce my intent to run for Council again this year,” said McGuinness, the current Council President and highest West Milford vote recipient of all time. “This opportunity to seek re-election and continue serving my friends and neighbors in West Milford is one I simply cannot pass up.”

McGuinness continued, “Despite the fact that the current mayor appears to have influenced 12 people to select her longtime friend and financial donor, I look forward to earning the trust and support of West Milford’s residents once again.”
