Councilwoman Jenny Mundell Wins Bloomfield Democratic Committee Vote

Committee to Submit Three Names to Township Council for Appointment

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Councilwoman Jenny Mundell won an overwhelming majority of votes from elected members of the Bloomfield Democratic Committee on Wednesday night as it met to consider nominations for the township’s open seat for Mayor. Now, members of the Township Council will vote on Monday to select a candidate to appoint to the position that was vacated last week when Assemblyman Michael Venezia (D-34) resigned in order to take his seat in the state legislature.

The results of the committee member vote are as follows:

Jenny Mundell – 41

Ted Gamble – 16

Nicole Williams – 2

Abstentions – 6

“I would like to thank all the members of the Bloomfield Democratic Committee for casting their vote and participating in what I believe was an open, transparent and successful process for choosing nominees for Mayor,” said Assemblyman Venezia, who also serves as Bloomfield Democratic Chairman. “I urge the members of the Township Council to respect the clear majority opinion of the Bloomfield Democratic Committee and vote to appoint Councilwoman Jenny Mundell as our next Mayor.”
