COUNTY EXECUTIVE GUY AND CHAIRMAN ROMANO CALL ON BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS TO PASS FUNDING FOR PUBLIC SAFETY UPGRADES IN HOBOKEN

The request is yet another effort among many introduced by the Guy Administration to improve County residents’ quality of life

JERSEY CITY, NJ Today, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy announced that he and Board of Commissioners Chairman Anthony Romano are introducing additional funding for increased public safety measures at Hoboken’s Church Square Park. Guy and Romano called upon the commissioners to approve this measure.

If approved, Hudson County will provide $100,000 to the City of Hoboken to purchase and install public safety equipment and infrastructure at Church Square Park. The funds being proposed will come from the Hudson County Open Space Trust Fund program, which funds projects like safety upgrades, green space improvements, and playground enhancements in all 12 Hudson County municipalities.

“As a former police officer, I understand the coordination it takes to ensure safety in communities such as Hoboken,” said Hudson County Executive Guy. “I truly believe money spent to improve residents’ quality of life is money well-spent, and I know the security enhancements from this funding are much needed in Church Square Park.”

“This money will be spent to upgrade the security in Church Square Park, which will be a valuable tool in deterring and solving crimes,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Romano. “I’m grateful for County Executive Guy’s leadership in providing this funding for my Hoboken residents.”

“I offer my thanks to County Executive Craig Guy and Commissioner Anthony Romano for their assistance in securing important grant funding for the City’s purchase of new cameras within Church Square Park. I appreciate the partnership of Hudson County, as we continue to ensure the safety of our residents and families within our public spaces,” said Hoboken Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla.

The funding request is one of many public safety programs Hudson County Executive Guy has initiated since taking office. The County continues to replace street lighting with LED lights along county roads like Kennedy Boulevard and Paterson Plank Road to better improve visibility. And in July County Executive Guy announced plans to crack down on illegal vehicle activity in county parks, include working with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office to establish stricter enforcement measures and new signage throughout county parks detailing regulations regarding motorized vehicles in parks.
