Cricco Powell Calls Attention to  Giattino Saying One Thing In Public on Development and Quite Another in Private

Cristin Cricco Powell, a candidate for 6th Ward Council in Hoboken,  called attention today to her opponent Councilwoman Giattino saying in public that she opposes over-development, while behind closed doors, advocating for more. According to the official minutes of a recent meeting of the Hudson County Building Trades (that’s a large consortium of local construction unions), Jen Giattino “expressed her disgust with Mayor Bhalla on his lack of development in Hoboken.” (see minutes below).

Cristin Cricco Powell said, ‘With me, what you see is what you get. I’m not going to say anything behind closed doors that I wouldn’t say in public I’ll push back on what developers really want in our undeveloped areas – unlimited development and large-scale, luxury residential buildings. “I want the majority of new development to be either commercial or affordable housing, and always in scale with our city.”

In Cristin Cricco Powell’s 20 years as an executive producer and director of TV shows and documentaries, she’s worked with everyone from coal miners in West Virginia to civil rights icon Harry Belafonte. Leading teams and directing different (and sometimes difficult) personalities has honed her management skills, while running high stakes projects with fixed schedules and tight budgets has given her the ability to think outside the box for smart solutions to sudden problems.

Cristin is an active supporter of the Hoboken Public Education Foundation and has a soon-to-be 4th grader and kindergartener at Brandt. She is a firm believer that everyone in Hoboken is her neighbor. Cristin’s family has been in Hoboken since 1897. Her great-grandparents Robert and Raffaela Cricco helped build St. Ann’s Church, and her grandfather, Carl, Sr. and father, Carl, Jr. were much-loved surgeons in town.
