After Strong Debate Performance, Will Cunningham Reports Quarterly Fundraising of over $73,000, $155,000 so far in 2020 Primary

VINELAND, NJ —

Democratic Congressional candidate Will Cunningham for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District has announced that his campaign has raised $73,529 this quarter and nearly $155,000 in total in 2020, demonstrating Mr. Cunningham’s grassroots base of support can propel him to an upset of the two political machines he is running against. In a race that has been plagued by broken campaign finance promises and massive self-financing by Mr. Cunningham’s opponents, these filings are a sign that there is a clear path to victory for the Cunningham Campaign and that South Jersey is ready for real progressive change.

“I am emboldened by these fundraising numbers. They serve to prove that South Jersey is rejecting the overt privilege and wealth attempting to buy this seat in favor of true grassroots progressivism. In fact, if Brigid Callahan Harrison had not injected $160,000 of her personal money into her campaign, our grassroots donors would have outraised her by almost $100,000. I intimately understand the struggles of this district in a way my wealthy opponents never can, and the people of South Jersey are ready for a representative who knows their pain because he lived it. Their story is my story” Cunningham said.

“I am the most experienced and qualified candidate in this race. I have a proven track record in Congress because I got results for the American people as a Chief Investigator on the House Oversight Committee. This election is a watershed moment for South Jersey. We cannot let privilege and wealth determine who is best fit to advocate for and present our collective struggle in the halls of Congress” Cunningham added.

Cunningham is the leading grassroots candidate in the race — facing off against two millionaires who are battling over the diminishing establishment vote. With the support of South Jersey Democratic activists and national trends in his favor, Cunningham’s path to victory in July 7th’s primary election is expanding by the day. His strong performance in last night’s primary debate only verifies that Cunningham is surging and that he is primed to be the next bold, progressive leader making his way to Congress.

Cunningham’s investigations on the House Oversight Committee resulted in the firing of the CEO of e-cigarette company JUUL for marketing to children, student loan relief from predatory for-profit colleges Betsy DeVos protects, and the removal of Johnson & Johnson’s talc-based baby powder from the North American market.
