CWA ENDORSES BENSON FOR MERCER COUNTY EXECUTIVE

Benson Fights For Working Families…Best Shares CWA’s Values & Priorities

(TRENTON, NJ) – Today, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) publicly and enthusiastically endorsed Assemblyman Dan Benson for Mercer County Executive.

“In Trenton, Dan Benson consistently stands alongside our members. He fights for them and their families when it comes to collective bargaining, safety on the job and full funding of public worker pensions,” said Dennis Trainor, Vice President for CWA District 1. “So we proudly stand alongside Dan Benson in his bid to become County Executive. With Dan at the helm, Mercer – and the region – can best reach its full potential for everyone who lives and works there.”

“For years, Dan Benson has been a tremendous ally for working families and a terrific friend to CWA,” said Fran Ehret, CWA NJ State Director. “Whether it was in the trenches alongside us in the Chapter 78 battle, testifying against the Civil Service Commission’s ill-advised attempt to establish a broad-banding of titles or with his recent work as prime sponsor of the Responsible Collective Negotiations Act, Dan Benson always has our backs. The thousands of CWA members who live and work here in Mercer County are excited to hit the ground running to help Dan become County Executive.”

“I could not be more humbled and honored to have the support of the CWA brothers and sisters across New Jersey,” said Assemblyman Benson. “I am excited to continue fighting for working families across Mercer County, making sure all workers – public or private – receive a fair living wage, good benefits and the right to collective bargaining.”

CWA represents thousands of members who live in Mercer County, as well as 6,000 who work in Trenton alone. These include state and county workers, plus private sector workers in telecommunications, workers in group homes and day programs for the disabled, center-based child care workers and teachers aides and support staff in pre-schools.
