CWA Supports the Agreement that is Ending the State Party Chair Fight

Jones, right and Currie, two emblems of political parties.

CWA New Jersey State Director Hetty Rosenstein issued the following statement reacting to an agreement that will lead to the re-election of John Currie and Peg Schaffer as leaders of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee:

The Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO supports the compromise agreement on the State Party Chair fight.

Chairman Currie and Vice Chair Shaeffer have a great record of seeing the State through the disaster that is President Trump and they demonstrated that during the 2018 Blue Wave. We have confidence that they are the right team to see us through the 2020 Election, when so much is at stake.

We are also grateful to Essex County Chairman Leroy Jones for his leadership and willingness to put off his own immediate desire to serve, for the sake of reaching an agreement, understanding that all of New Jersey must come together to defeat Donald Trump and support a Congress that has integrity and will protect the rights of all of our country’s residents.

There is so much at stake in these troubling times. Our Union is relieved to see an end to this divisive fight and we are grateful to Governor Murphy, Chairman Currie and Chairman Jones for reaching this Agreement.
