DCCC Fires Off Digital Ad Slamming Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen for Harassment of Constituent
Ad hits Frelinghuysen for targeting a constituent by contacting her employer
Today, the DCCC is launching a five-figure digital ad, “Punish,” highlighting Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen’s unethical and immoral actions, namely using his power as a Member of Congress to target a constituent for her political activism. The five-figure digital ad will run on Facebook and Instagram, will target voters in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District and links to the initial WNYC story.
The New Jersey Republican made national headlines yesterday when reports showed that he contacted a constituent’s employer (a Frelinghuysen donor) to inform on the constituent’s participations in anti-Frelinghuysen protests. The constituent—described by Frelinghuysen as a “ringleader”—eventually resigned after being “interrogated” by the company.
“Representative Frelinghuysen abused the power of his office when he targeted his constituent for exercising her First Amendment rights,” said DCCC Spokesman Evan Lukaske. “His unethical actions represent the very worst kind of politics and show exactly why he needs to be replaced next November.”
