Demetrius Terry withdraws from Jersey City Board of Education race

Endorses David Miranda

Jersey City, New Jersey August 20, 2017:  Demetrius Terry, 24, will no longer be seeking a seat on the Jersey City Board of Education for a one year term. Demetrius has decided to withdraw his name from the ballot to focus on continuing his educational career to obtain his Master’s Degree and ensuring residents in Greenville and Bergen Lafayette has access to quality health services and emergency care as Executive Director of Greenville Health Access. Demetrius strongly believes education is key to addressing much poor quality of life issues in the City of Jersey City. During the early stage of his campaign, he stressed the importance of ensuring every student has access to a top notch quality education and implementing policies to make sure every traditional public school strives towards excellence. In addition, Demetrius made it well-known that he supports every parent’s choice in the school district of where they decide to send his/her child to school. While withdrawing his name from the ballot was a tough decision for Demetrius, he is still young and will continue to be politically engaged as he’s looking forward to a bright future in the State of New Jersey.

“I am proud to endorse David Miranda for a seat on the Jersey City Board of Education- one year term. During my campaign, my slogan was “Proven Leadership Fighting for Jersey City Students.” I strongly believe it is so important to have a background and record to run on and David Miranda is uniquely qualified as was I to be elected to the Jersey City Board of Education. Accountability, Credibility, and Transparency are three areas David will strive to bring while on the Board. I am confident he will put our children, parents, and teachers first as he is the only candidate running for a one-year term with the background and experience. On Tuesday, November 8th, vote 6J to elect David Miranda because he will get the job done.”     – Demetrius Terry
