DFER Welcomes Hans Goff as VP of Government Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 23, 2023) – Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) announced today that Hans Goff will serve as the organization’s first Vice President of Advocacy and Government Affairs.

Goff will support national advocacy efforts for DFER, its partner Education Reform Now Advocacy (ERNA) and its affiliate Education Reform Now (ERN), to promote federal legislation and executive action that progresses a high-quality public education for all students—particularly those who have historically been underserved.

“Hans’ wealth of experience in Democratic politics and government advocacy will be an incredible asset to DFER as we look to grow our impact,” said Shakira Petit, interim CEO for DFER. “Paired with the expertise of our state chapters and federal policy shop, Hans’ leadership on the Hill has the potential to advance education reform in exciting ways at a time when so much is at stake for our nation’s students.”

Goff, who most recently served as the External Affairs Program Manager for Amazon, has a long history of leadership within the Democratic Party at the federal and state levels. He’s held positions with the Office of the Assistant Speaker for the U.S. House of Representatives—where he served as senior leadership for U.S. Representative Ben Ray Luján—the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Hillary for America, Organizing for America, Jon Corzine for Governor, the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, and Robert Menendez for U.S. Senate. He also served as an advisor for Bloomberg Philanthropies.

“As the son of a retired educator, I’m thrilled to bring my skill set to an organization that is committed to improving public education for all students,” said Goff. “A high-quality education truly creates life changing opportunities and expands access across socioeconomic backgrounds, and I look forward to advocating for the policies necessary for every child to receive the equitable education they deserve.”
