Wayne Republican Club Endorses DiGaetano, Robertson, Bubba
Rejects Peter Murphy’s Slate in Response to Ballot Scandal
Wayne, NJ — On May 16, the Wayne Republican Club voted overwhelmingly to endorse the Republicans for Honest Government team for state legislature including Paul DiGaetano, Norm Robertson, and Joseph Bubba, Jr.
“I’m thrilled to earn the endorsement of the Wayne Republican Club,” said DiGaetano. “Our team is committed to fighting for Wayne and for every community in the 40th district that has been poorly served by the political class in Trenton.”
DiGaetano said that the core of his team’s platform is taking the school funding formula away from the Supreme Court, ending the Supreme Court’s high-density housing mandates, and requiring voter approval for all tax increases.
“The people of Wayne — and the people of the entire state — are overtaxed, over-regulated and under-represented,” DiGaetano said. “Wayne needs a team of experienced, consistent, and committed leaders who are ready and willing to solve these problems once and for all.”
DiGaetano, Robertson, and Bubba were also endorsed by the organization’s Mayoral candidate, Lonni Miller Ryan, Council Candidate Jim Marrocco, and municipal leader Mike Marotta.
DiGaetano’s running mates for the General Assembly, Norm Robertson and Joseph Bubba thanked the Wayne Republicans for their support.
“We should be talking about solutions to the failed school funding formula and the onerous housing mandates that Trenton has imposed on the people of Wayne,” Robertson said. “The ballot scandals, false registration of party slogans, and shenanigans by the county clerk’s office should have no place in this race.”
Bubba agreed saying that lowering taxes and local control of local development projects is what is most important to the voters he meets.
“Its unfortunate that the race so far has not been about the problems facing the people of the district,” added Bubba. “I’m meeting voters door-too-door everyday and I haven’t found anyone supporting elected officials who leverage their insider contacts to gain an unfair advantage in the race.”
Wayne is the largest town in the 40th Legislative District and the hometown of both Robertson and Bubba. The primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 6.
