District 37 Calls on Department of Labor to Set Up In-Person Unemployment Claims Location
Trenton – In an urgent letter sent directly to the Commissioner of the Department of Labor Robert Asaro-Angelo and Governor Phil Murphy, District 37 legislators – Senate Majority Leader Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Assembly Deputy Speaker Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle – called on the Commissioner to set up an in-person satellite location in Bergen County to settle unemployment claims.
The creative solution would be a satellite location where residents still struggling to receive their unemployment benefits could meet directly with representatives from the DOL in order to sort out their outstanding claims.
The letter comes in response to their district offices still being inundated with desperate residents asking for help and wondering why they have yet to receive the benefits they applied for, in some cases, as far back as March.
The letter was sent last week and has not received a response from the Commissioner or the Administration.
