DLCC Names Lagana, Swain, and Tully Campaign a Race to Watch in 2023

Bergen County, NJ – Senator Joseph Lagana (D-Paramus), Assemblymember Lisa Swain (D-Fair Lawn), and Assemblymember Chris Tully (D-Bergenfield) were named to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s (DLCC) Spotlight list of must-watch races for 2023, the arm of the Democratic party responsible for electing Democrats to state legislative seats.

“Democratic state legislators are on the frontlines defending and expanding our access to abortion care, gun safety reform, and the right to vote,” said interim DLCC President Heather Wiliams. “Last year, the DLCC led state Democrats to have the most successful midterm election year for the president’s party in nearly a century, and we are continuing our momentum in 2023. We are proud to include Senator Lagana and Assemblymembers Lisa Swain and Chris Tully on our growing list of amazing candidates who are committed to making a difference in their communities. On to November!”

The DLCC Spotlight distinction reflects the importance of Lagana, Swain, and Tully’s race in LD38 in Bergen County. It’s also a reminder that it is a competitive race – one of the most competitive in the state.

“We’re honored to receive the DLCC Spotlight Distinction. Winning this race is critical to keeping the Democratic Majority in the Senate and Assembly this year,” said Lagana, Swain, and Tully in a joint statement. “This endorsement reflects the fact that we’re a firewall in Trenton against Republicans’ extreme agenda to pass a new abortion ban in New Jersey.”
