DOMBROWSKI CALLS FOR “OPEN AND HONEST” GOVERNMENT FOR CEDAR GROVE!

Proposes Redevelopment Authority, Practices and Procedures that Protect Taxpayers!

CEDAR GROVE – Citing over development and a lack of transparency the paramount issues facing the residents of Cedar Grove, township council candidate Robert “Bobby” Dombrowski called on all remaining voters to cast their ballot and be heard.

Dombrowski expressed concern that the tone of the campaign was becoming “personal and nasty” in the waning days by political forces who have controlled the levers of Cedar Grove local government for decades.

“I’m different. I’m not part of the status quo. I’m not the protégé of powerful insiders behind the scenes who are funding my opponent’s race. Tough to believe a 23-year old, first-time candidate can raise tens of thousands of dollars without the help of these very influential and embedded political players,” offered Dombrowski, a retired labor leader employed part-time by the Essex County Board of Supervisors.

Dombrowski was disturbed by the “revolving door government” being currently offered Cedar Grove residents.

“The current township council is in a state of turnover. We have yet to be told why Mayor Robbie Vargo resigned and what is the community’s action plan to deny and reject the attempts to over develop a community that has historically been described as small, safe and suburban,” offered the former state employee who has been endorsed by the New Jersey AFL-CIO.

“People first, not the politicians and insiders,” noted the hopeful.

“My presence on the Cedar Grove governing body will represent a breath of fresh air. I want to review all development applications and legal issues we face as a community.  The residents I speak with believe transparency with citizens is lacking and I plan to be a “watch dog” for those who currently have no voice of their own.”

Dombrowski stressed he “did not and will not” accept campaign donations from those attempting to build and develop in Cedar Grove.

“It is impossible for an elected official to accept the financial support of out-of-town developers on one hand, and then be judge and jury on the other. My opponent is endorsed by the very elected officials that have created the problem. I want to be a part of the solution.”

Dombrowski is calling for an independent redevelopment authority to weigh-in on applications and begin the process of reviewing the township’s Master Plan.

“We need resident input. I demand Town Halls on future development proposals that come before the community. I will not be compromised nor tempted to practice “pay for play” politics that just surrenders home rule and local control,” said the candidate.

Dombrowski stressed his resume and background as the far more practical choice for the majority of Cedar Grove homeowners.

“I’m not part of the old boy’s club that currently controls Cedar Grove. We have a “shadow” government of sorts. My wife Linda has lived here for many years and I have resided in Essex County for nearly three decades. My background in labor relations bodes well when negotiating with developers and builders. My opponent is backed by the very individuals who created the over development dilemma. That’s why he was appointed and that’s why I will be elected come November 3rd.”

“Let’s put Cedar Grove first and petty politics last. I can take the heat and I won’t back down in my effort to ensure Cedar Grove homeowners are protected from a potential onslaught of new development most residents object. I ask those who have not yet voted to make a choice retaining our values and keeping Cedar Grove small, safe and suburban.”
