Dover Mayor Declares ‘Community Day of Healing’ On Tuesday May 28th

In response to the recent unfortunate events of the past week in the Town of Dover, Mayor
James P. Dodd has declared Tuesday, May 28, 2019 a “Community Day of Healing.”
Divisiveness and hate in any shape or form has no home in the Town of Dover.

As part of this designation, the regularly scheduled meeting of the governing body will be
rescheduled to June 11, 2019. In its place, a special meeting of the governing body will
take place at the Dover Community Center, 37 N. Essex Street, Dover, New Jersey 07801
at 7 pm. The purpose of this meeting is to hear residents’ concerns, communicate and come
together as a community to begin the healing process.

Community religious and civic leaders will be present and members of the public will be
afforded an opportunity to speak.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office and Morris County Prosecutor’s Office have
been invited to take part.

As part of the healing process, Mayor Dodd has mandated that all Town employees
undergo unconscious bias training for all Town employees.
