Dr. Jeff Van Drew Dominates First Debate & Demonstrates that he is the Clear Choice to Represent South Jersey in Congress

(Northfield) – Dr. Jeff Van Drew tonight laid out stark differences in the campaign for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District. The hour-long debate hosted by Stockton University and broadcasted by SNJ Today gave voters the first opportunity to see the candidates face off head-to-head. After tonight’s face-off, South Jersey voters know that the stakes could not be higher.

Some of the highlights from tonight’s debate centered around healthcare, Social Security, climate change, South Jersey’s fair share and divisive partisanship in Washington. On all counts the candidates’ differences were cavernous.

•    On healthcare, Jeff Van Drew stood up to protect patients living with pre-existing conditions, while Seth Grossman refused to protect the healthcare of millions of Americans.

•    On Social Security, Jeff Van Drew called this a “handshake agreement between workers and our government that must be protected,” while Grossman made it clear he would place it firmly on the chopping block.

•    On South Jersey’s fair share, Jeff Van Drew stood up for critical funding for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, while Seth Grossman opposed that relief and even wanted to undercount the Census which would cost New Jersey Taxpayers dearly.

•    On partisanship in Washington, Jeff Van Drew wants to be a problem solver and work across the aisle bringing people together to solve the biggest challenges facing our country, while Seth Grossman made it clear he will be a rubber-stamp to the partisanship that is already harming our democracy.

“There are clear differences in the race for Congress and simply I want to be a really good Congressman that will always be on the side of South Jersey families and small businesses to help them succeed,” said Jeff Van Drew. “The stakes have never been higher because we are at a crossroads in American history and now more than ever we must bring people together because our greatest challenges as Americans should not be put on hold due to partisan politics.”

Jeff Van Drew is a practicing dentist from Dennis Township, and is the State Senator for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District. Van Drew is running for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes all or parts of New Jersey’s eight southern-most counties.
