Dumont Democrats Demand Action As Local Republicans Continue Ethical Violations

(DUMONT, NJ) – It has come to our attention that the Dumont Republican Party is doubling down on their narrative and has resorted to using the Dumont Recreation Commission Facebook page to promote their fundraiser. This page is registered as a government organization and has been traditionally used to broadcast information about Borough events and activities.

Last week an individual used the Borough’s Men’s Softball email chain to promote this weekend’s Republican fundraiser.  The league then responded stating that “the individual overstepped when they put their views and personal thoughts in the message.”

For the second time in less than a week, we find ourselves wondering why Dumont Republicans are choosing to use inappropriate channels. Do they not care or are they completely clueless as to what ethical conduct is? Government channels are not meant to be used for political purposes. This government commission should remain impartial and focused on Borough-related matters, not to promote a political fundraiser. Maintaining the integrity and accountability of our local government commissions is essential.

The fundraiser was to raise money for this year’s Republican Mayor and Council candidates. The event was taking place at the Dumont Elks on Sunday 9/24 and was headlined by State Senator Holly Schepisi as well as Assemblyman Robert Auth and Assembly-candidate, Saddle River Councilman John Azzariti.

With all of the combined experience of the individuals named on the flyer wouldn’t one think that they would know how to not commit an ethics violation?

The recent use of this platform for political purposes raises questions about its intended purpose, who is posting this and why are they ill-informed on what is allowed to be posted on that page?

We are calling for an ethics investigation to be started and completed immediately by all necessary and relevant authorities.

The Attanasio, Warta and Francavilla team believe that transparency and ethical conduct should be upheld by all parties involved. Our community deserves an open and honest discussion about this. Let’s come together to seek answers and ensure that our governmental organizations remain dedicated to serving the best interests of Dumont residents.

We appreciate your engagement and encourage you to join us in asking the tough questions. Together, we can work towards a more transparent and accountable future for our community.

Thank you for your continued support.
