East Brunswick GOP Chairman Jesal Amin Calls Out Jim Wendell for Supporting the Targeting of Sexual Assault Survivors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

East Brunswick, NJ– East Brunswick GOP Chairman Jesal Amin released the following statement about Councilman Jim Wendell’s support for embattled Carteret Mayor Dan Reiman, who was recently accused of molesting a young man.  Councilman Wendell liked a facebook post by Mayor Reiman, where he announced he is targeting the accuser with a defamation lawsuit.

Chairman Amin wonders whether Councilman Wendell’s partisan ambitions will mean he will put party first, even when it comes to standing up against sexual violence, or putting the needs of East Brunswick above his own partisan ambitions.

Chairman Amin stated:

“The allegations against Mayor Reiman are horrific.  For Councilman Wendell to “like” a post where he announces he is targeting a sexual assault survivor with a lawsuit for coming forward, is grotesque and disqualifying. Furthermore, it shows Councilman Wendell is unfit to remain in office because he does not take sexual assault seriously.  If Councilman Wendell, cannot stand up to a member of his own his party accused of sexual assault, how can he possibly be trusted to stand up his party when its interests run counter to those of East Brunswick.

Republicans are set for gains in East Brunswick, precisely because of the hypocrisy of the Democrats, when it comes to sexual assault.  From Mayor Cohen hosting a meet and greet for disgraced Senator Bob Menendez, to Jim Wendell publicly supporting the targeting of sexual assault survivors, the East Brunswick Democrats have shown that party politics always comes first.”

East Brunswick deserves better.  Vote Clark, Philipczak and Khona for Council on November 6th.
