East Brunswick Mayoral Candidate Vows to Fight to Maintain Property Values
For Immediate Release
East Brunswick, NJ- East Brunswick Mayoral Candidate Jesal Amin issued the following press release calling for increased inspections and stricter standards on foreclosed properties to maintain property values.
“Owning a home has been inextricably linked to the American Dream for many years. As a teenager who recently immigrated to the United States from India, I pictured myself raising a family in a home with a yard and white picket face. One of the proudest days of my life still is, the day I purchased my first house. But this dream is turning into a nightmare for millions of Americans amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic who struggle to make mortgage payments on a good day, and now are in real danger of losing their homes.” Stated Amin. “As 4.5 million Americans, including many East Brunswick residents are in mortgage forbearance, this pandemic is compounding economic hardships and turning into a real financial emergency. Americans should not have to choose between making their mortgage payments or putting food on the table.”
“Barring federal or state action, East Brunswick residents will lose their homes in this crisis. East Brunswick can step in and keep the crisis from negatively affecting home values and wiping out resident’s savings. As banks come in and foreclose on homes, property values decrease as foreclosed residences are not maintained. East Brunswick can mitigate this by enforcing strict standards on foreclosed homes and inspecting foreclosed properties on a weekly basis.” Continued Amin. “As Murphy Democrats continue to fail New Jersey by raising taxes $14 billion and Mayor Cohen does nothing, I will work to maintain East Brunswick property values.”
