Edward H. Thomson sworn in as 30^th district’s newest assemblyman

TRENTON, N.J. – The General Assembly has a new member today.  Assemblyman Edward H. “Ned” Thomson was sworn in to take the seat of David Rible, who became the commissioner of the Alcohol Beverage Control commission earlier this summer.

“I have served the residents of Wall Township and Monmouth County for over two decades. Being able to represent my community at the state level is a great honor,” said Thomson, a Republican. “The interest of every resident in the thirtieth legislative district will be my conscience, and I will do my best to be successful representing them.”

Thomson previously served on the Wall Township committee from 1998 to 2008, twice being elected mayor.  He also spent a decade on, and was recently reappointed to, the Wall Township Planning Board and seven years on the Board of Adjustment.

“The state is in a fiscal mess.  Our pension and health benefit debt is out of hand and an omen of a coming crisis.  The last thing the state needs is for our number one problem, property taxes, to skyrocket because of reckless mismanagement of our state finances.  Property taxes must be lowered to make the state more affordable,” said Thomson.

Thomson is an enrolled actuary whose firm administers over 500 pensions to ensure a quality retirement is provided to people across the state.  He volunteers for Angel Flights, flying people with medical emergencies to the nearest hospital as quickly as possible, free of cost.  He also volunteers for the Junior Olympics.

A husband of 32 years and a father of three children, Thomson and his family are life-long residents of Monmouth County.

“Ned is a great public servant and a person of tremendous integrity,” said Bramnick (R-Union). “He will be a great asset to our caucus.”
