Eleven Camden County Middle Schools Named as Schools of Character
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (February 4, 2022) – The Camden County Technical School (CCTS) District is pleased to announce that 11 middle schools in Camden County have met the criteria and were each named a Camden County Middle School of Character. This standing shall remain in effect from 2022 through 2024.
This award is jointly sponsored by the Camden County Commissioners, Camden County College, and Camden County Technical Schools.
“Character education reinforces core values needed for success in the workforce, college, and in life,” said Patricia Fitzgerald, Superintendent of CCTS. “The two campuses of CCTS received recognition as National Schools of Character as well as New Jersey Schools of Character and it is our pleasure to co-sponsor and coordinate the Camden County Middle School of Character award.”
“The schools selected go above and beyond when it comes to instilling character education into our young people,” said Commissioner Carmen Rodriguez, liaison to Camden County Technical Schools. “This framework for learning will not only give our students here in Camden County the opportunity to be set up for success in all aspects of their lives, but it will also produce a new generation of kind, respectful and trustworthy individuals who are ready to take on the world.”
“All 80 private, charter and public middle schools in Camden County were invited to submit applications that describe their character education programs for consideration, and we are delighted to award 11 of them with this honor,” said Suzanne Golt, chairperson of this award. “The review panel was impressed with the creative and interactive programs the schools have implemented to help our youth recognize the importance of good character and reinforce values such as Respect, Trustworthiness, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.”

Davis Family School, Camden, Sharon Woodridge, Principal
Magnolia School, Magnolia, Paul Sorrentino, Principal
Mary E. Volz, Runnemede, Steve Pili, Principal
Rosa International Middle School, Cherry Hill, George Guy, Principal
Samuel S. Yellin School, Stratford, David Ricci, Principal
Somerdale Park School, Somerdale, Mark Pease Superintendent/Principal
St. Rose of Lima School, Haddon Heights, Deacon Joseph Rafferty
Thomas H. Dudley School, Camden, Evelyn Ruiz, Principal
Woodlynne School, Woodlynne, Jackie Walters, Superintendent/Principal
Representatives from the schools will attend a recognition ceremony where they will receive a banner and certificate on February 18th at 1 pm at Camden County Technical Schools, Conference Center, 343 Berlin Cross Keys Road, Sicklerville, NJ 08081.
