Emerge New Jersey’s Alumnae Won Big On Election Night 

Voters across the country elected 85 Emerge America alumnae in down ballot races. Out of Emerge NJ’s 10 alumnae that ran, 5 women won in the primaries.  

Morristown. New Jersey—Last night, Emerge New Jersey’s alumnae delivered wins up and down the ballot when 5 out of 10 women won their position for local and county office. Across Emerge America’s broad 85 of the organization’s 129 women were on ballots in 9 states. Emerge NJ will be holding it’s 5-year annual training program in spring 2018. The organization has a total of 64 alumnae who successfully graduated from the program and 17 alumnae who have won elections. In 2016, 64 women applied for our prestigious training. This summer Emerge NJ conducted their first boot camp to accommodate women running for state office. Our deadline for our program is November 15, 2017.  

Emerge New Jersey has also begun its recruiting process for the class of 2018 The organization seeks bright, self-motivated Democratic women who are committed to effective and ethical political leadership. Their multi-part application process, which includes submission of a resume and several short essays followed by an interview, will remain open from now until November 15th.

Emerge is training the next generation of Democratic women leaders and I am so proud to be a part of the program. Without Emerge, my run for New Jersey State Assembly would not have been possible.” 

Emerge New Jersey is changing the face of New Jersey politics by identifying, training and encouraging women to run for office, get elected and to seek higher office. Our intensive, cohort-based six-month training program is unique. As the number of elected Democratic women remains flat or even declines, the need for our important work is growing. The organization is at the heart of a powerful movement led by women that is sweeping the country.
