ENERGY EFFICIENCY STATE SCORECARD TO SHOW BOOSTED

INVESTMENT IN PROGRAMS DESPITE FEDERAL ROLLBACK OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGS

ACEEE 2018 State Scorecard to Highlight Top-10 States for Energy Efficiency:  CA, CT, MA, MD, MN, NY, OR, RI, VT and WA; Bottom-Six and Four Other Featured States;  Report to Identify States Pushing to Expand # of Electric Vehicles and Zero-Energy Buildings.

WASHINGTON, DC///News Advisory///Energy efficiency is thriving in the US despite a major policy shift in Washington that places less emphasis on energy-saving standards, according to The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).  Top-level findings from ACEEE’s 2018 State Energy Efficiecy Scorecard will show that many states are boosting their efforts to save energy and expand the number of EVs and zero-energy buildings. ACEEE experts will release the 2018 Scorecard at 11 a.m. EDT on Thursday, October 4, during a webinar with full Q&A for news media.

The 2018 ACEEE Scorecard will rank all 50 states and the District of Columbia, highlighting the top-10, and bottom six states, with a traditional focus on the leading states. States in the spotlight are (in alphabetical order): California, Connecticut, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington State, West Virginia and Wyoming.

In addition, the 2018 Scorecard will feature states outside of the top-10 and bottom six, either because they improved a lot or lost ground. These states will include (in alphabetical order): Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, and New Jersey.

The ACEEE Scorecard is published annually to call attention to the diverse policy tools available to governors, state legislators, and regulators. The report’s peer-reviewed results encourage state lawmakers to improve energy efficiency policies. The scorecard ranks states based on the strength and performance of efficiency policies and programs, and on best practices and leadership.
