Englewood Cliffs Democratic Council members Slam Mayor Kranjac’s Bullying of Teen Resident, Will Seek to Cancel $2,500 Bill
ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. — Englewood Cliffs Democratic Council members Gloria Oh, Ed Aversa, Deborah Tsabari and Jimmy Song are unequivocally opposed to Mayor Mario Kranjac’s decision to send a bill for $2,500 to the teenage organizer of a recent non-violent protest in the borough. The Council members will seek to cancel the bill and are joining calls by Democratic Council candidates Glenn Luciano and David Di Gregorio for Mayor Kranjac to publicly apologize to protest organizer Emily Gil.
Council members Oh, Avera, Tsabari and Song are releasing the following joint statement:
“Once again, Mayor Kranjac has embarrassed our proud community with his offensive behavior and this time he has attempted to bully and silence a young woman who simply dared to exercise her first amendment rights. Mayor Kranjac should be ashamed of himself, and as members of the Borough Council we will be acting to invalidate this ridiculous bill and make it clear to Emily Gil and her family that they will not be expected to pay anything. Mayor Kranjac owes Emily and every other resident of our community an apology for his divisive actions.”
