Fairer NJ Release on Sudhan Thomas’ Corruption Charges

A Big Sept Backwards for Jersey City’s Schools

Fairer NJ, a non-profit supporting responsible policies and candidates that puts the
education Jersey City’s children first, called today’s charges against BOE President
Sudhan Thomas a big step backwards in fixing Jersey City’s schools.

The announcement of the charges against Sudhan Thomas were not unexpected. Fairer
NJ warned voters of the corruption and waste in the Jersey City School Board during
the last election. We just didn’t know how extensive the corruption was. These serious
charges make it even more important for the Board to be more inclusive and responsive
to our community. We will be watching closely to see how the Board works to rectify
the culture of corruption that has defined this Board.

“We are even more excited about the victory of the candidates we supported on the
Change for Children slate. Their commitment to putting the education of our children
above everything else was the reason we supported them.” stated Mark Matzen, the
spokesperson for Fairer NJ. “The mission of Fairer NJ is ensuring our children get the
best education possible and that our schools have a secure, stable and reoccurring
financial backing. None of that is possible without new leadership. That is good for
Jersey City’s parents, children, residents and businesses,” continued Mr. Matzen.

Fairer NJ supports responsible policies that puts the education Jersey City’s children
first. That means responsible long term financial and programmatic planning that will
position Jersey City’s schools to provide the best education to its children now and for
the long term. Fairer NJ is a registered Political Action Committee with the New Jersey’s
Election Law Enforcement Committee and reports all its activity in accordance with New
Jersey’s election laws.
