Falkner, Gyorfy Announce Bids for Morris Township Committee

Former Navy Helicopter Pilot, Volunteer Firefighter Earn Endorsements from Morris County, Morris Township Democrats

Morris Township, NJ – Today, Dan Falkner and Mark Gyorfy submitted their petitions to run for Morris Township Committee with the endorsements of the Morris County and Morris Township Democratic Committees. Falkner, a Navy veteran and former investment banker, and Gyorfy, a volunteer firefighter and former congressional staffer, intend to bring their public service experience to Morris Township’s governing body to improve responsiveness to residents’ needs and spark new energy.

“I grew up in Morris Township and know it well; I have never been as excited and energized as I am today to support two strong Democratic candidates for Morris Township Committee,” said Chip Robinson, Chair of the Morris County Democratic Committee. “By electing Dan and Mark, Township residents will gain institutional knowledge, public service experience, and a newfound energy that will expand on the initiatives set forth by Cathy Wilson and John Arvanites on the Township Committee.”

“I served my country as a military officer for nearly a decade. Today, the call to service comes to me in a new form,” said Falkner. “Instead of deploying around the world, my mission is now to serve the residents of my community. I’m confident that, as a team, Mark and I possess the necessary skillsets to bring new energy and fresh perspectives to be the voice of constituents in Morris Township.”

“It is an honor and a privilege to accept the endorsements of both the Morris Township and Morris County Democrats along with Dan Falkner and announce my candidacy for Township Committee,” said Gyorfy. “Morris Township is ready for new leadership. Status quo initiatives of the past are no longer sufficient; Morris Township’s 21st century challenges deserve 21st century solutions. It’s a given that we need to keep taxes low – that’s our highest priority, but we can do more. Residents are ready for new approaches on many different fronts: from communicating with residents to addressing traffic congestion and improving our infrastructure. Dan and I bring the skills, the experience, the vision, and the energy to move our community forward in new and positive ways.”

Falkner and Gyorfy are seeking to secure the Democratic nomination in the June 5th primary and will be reaching out to Morris Township residents with their vision in the coming weeks.

Dan Falkner was born and raised in Bergenfield, NJ. He attended Bergenfield High School and went on to graduate with distinction from the US Naval Academy with a degree in engineering.  Upon graduation, Dan was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy and went on to become a Naval Aviator flying MH-60S helicopters. Mark Gyorfy was born and raised in Morris Township. He is a Morristown High School graduate and studied government and counter-terrorism at the University of Maryland. Mark later worked for U.S. Rep.
