FAMULARO, LAZARCHICK ANNOUNCE CANDIDACIES FOR ATLANTIC COUNTY COMMISSIONER
ABSECON – Today, Pleasantville Councilwoman Joanne Famularo announced her candidacy for Atlantic County Commissioner District 2 and Susan Lazarchick of Hamilton Township announced her candidacy for Atlantic County Commissioner District 5.
“As a fiscally-responsible small businesswoman, I’ve navigated the challenges of balancing budgets and making tough financial decisions,” said Joanne Famularo. “My experiences as an entrepreneur have instilled in me a deep understanding of the economic realities our community faces. If elected, I am determined to bring my business acumen to the forefront, working tirelessly to cut wasteful government spending and to make Atlantic County a more affordable place to live.”
“My journey, from overcoming personal challenges to advocating for the rights of disabled individuals, has fueled my commitment to making a positive impact on people’s lives,” said Susan Lazarchick. “My vision for western Atlantic County is centered on inclusivity, accessibility, and empowering communities to build a better Atlantic County. We can create economic opportunities while at the same time protecting our environment and pursuing critical sustainable initiatives.”
Famularo is serving her second term on Pleasantville City Council. Before that, she served on the Pleasantville Board of Education. Famularo is a small businesswoman who previously owned Deli du Jour on Washington Avenue in Pleasantville. She is a member of the Mainland-Pleasantville NAACP and the Pleasantville AARP.
Lazarchick has been a leader on advocating for disabled residents after being the first person to ever have a total knee transplant from a cadaver and subsequently having her leg amputated. Her efforts led to the passage of state legislation to bring insurance parity to amputees. Lazarchick is involved with Sustainable Jersey and previously served on the Hamilton Township Green Team.
The 2nd County Commissioner District includes the Shore Road communities of Absecon, Pleasantville, Northfield, Linwood, and Somers Point and one precinct in Egg Harbor Township. The 5th County Commissioner District includes much of western Atlantic County, including Buena Borough, Buena Vista Township, Corbin City, Egg Harbor City, Estell Manor, Folsom, Hammonton, Mullica Township, Weymouth Township, and portions of Hamilton Township.
Last Friday, Kim O’Brien announced her candidacy for Atlantic County Commissioner at-large. O’Brien, Famularo, and Lazarchick are running unopposed at the 49th Annual Atlantic County Democratic Convention on Sunday, March 17 at Renault Winery in Egg Harbor City.
