Filipe Pedroso Considers Run for State Assembly 23rd District, Pledges to Fight for Republican Values

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Bridgewater Council Vice President Filipe Pedroso is strongly considering a run for State Assembly in the 23rd Legislative District. With State Senator Douglas Steinhardt (R-Lopatcong) expected to be appointed as U.S. Attorney by President Trump and Legislative Minority Leader John DiMaio (R-Hackettstown) likely moving up to the Senate, an Assembly seat is poised to open alongside Assemblyman Erik Peterson (R-Franklin).

“Senator Steinhardt and Assemblymen DiMaio and Peterson have been champions of our conservative values. Their leadership has been instrumental in defending our freedoms, standing up for hardworking New Jerseyans, and pushing back against progressive policies destroying our state. I am honored to explore the opportunity to join this fight,” said Filipe Pedroso.

Pedroso, a four-term elected official, first joined the Bridgewater Council after being appointed to fill an unexpired term. A steadfast conservative, he believes his values and principles strongly align with the voters in the 23rd District.

“We must fix New Jersey. I will fight to restore New Jersey’s greatness with an America First approach and policies grounded in common-sense conservative principles. We need leaders who are bold, fearless, and unafraid to challenge the status quo. That’s why I am seriously considering running for Assembly. Trenton Democrats want to overdevelop our towns, force unaffordable housing mandates down our throats, turn our cities into sanctuaries for criminal illegal immigrants, ban gas stoves and gasoline-powered cars, allow transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports, and force our daughters to share locker rooms with biological males. Enough is enough. These policies are not just misguided—they’re deranged and dangerous,” Pedroso declared.

With 13 years of experience on the Bridgewater Council, Pedroso has never been afraid to take a stand for what is right. “I have always stood up for the people I serve, unafraid to fight for what matters. Whether pushing back against the political persecution of President Trump, resisting reckless overdevelopment, defending law enforcement against the dangerous defund-the-police agenda, or opposing excessive tax hikes, I have been unwavering in my commitment to protecting our communities, freedom, and values. True leadership is built on conviction, and I have always led with strength, integrity, and an unyielding dedication to our conservative ideals,” stated Pedroso.

Pedroso is no stranger to the political landscape of the 23rd District. As the founder of VoterMaker—described as the most comprehensive voter software on the planet—he has played a pivotal role in managing and advising numerous campaigns within the 23rd, including State Senate and Assembly races. “I know this district inside and out. I know what voters care about and what they want for their families,” said Pedroso.

Pedroso has lived in Bridgewater since 1978. He is married to Liana and is the proud father of four children: Sophia, Julia, Alina, and Nikolas. He earned a B.S. in biochemistry from Rutgers University and a law degree from Seton Hall Law. Before serving on the Council, he spent 10 years on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and six years as a volunteer with the Finderne First Aid and Rescue Squad. An attorney and technology innovator, Pedroso holds multiple patents in social e-commerce and is the founder of Giftapart, Chatapart, VoterMaker, and DocketMaker.
