Fiocchi: Millions In Financial Aid For Illegal Immigrants Is Unfair To Those Who Do Things The Legal Way

Millions In Financial Aid For Illegal Immigrants Is Unfair To Those Who Do Things The Legal Way

Money could have gone to combat homelessness, opioid addiction or Department of Military and Veterans Affairs

VINELAND – Republican candidate for state Senate in LD1, former Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi said today that recent news reports that New Jersey provided financial aid for more than 500 ‘undocumented immigrants’ to attend college is just one example of how sanctuary status hurts others.

“I, like many others living in our district, believe it is ridiculous the State provided over $1 million for those living here illegally to attend college,” Sam Fiocchi said, “Granted, many liberals and progressives will argue the students are ‘Dreamers,’ but what they’re really saying is these students, living in the country illegally, are being rewarded for the bad behavior of their parents.”

“There are other projects the $1.6 million in financial aid for students living in the country illegally could have gone to.” Fiocchi continued, “That $1.6 million could have gone to combat homelessness, it could have gone to fight opioid addiction or it could have gone to replace the $1.2 million decrease in state funds to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs in Governor Murphy’s last budget.”

“It’s obvious the Murphy administration’s sanctuary policies hurt the citizens of New Jersey,” Fiocchi said. “Those sanctuary policies are going to lead to more illegal immigrants living in our state and more hard-earned taxpayer dollars going to help those living here illegally. It simply isn’t fair to those who do things the right way, the legal way. As a state Senator I will work hard to push back against the sanctuary policies of Phil Murphy and his progressive allies and restore fairness to New Jersey’s taxpayers.”
