Fitzpatrick, Gottheimer Host Bipartisan Roundtable on US-Israel Relationship with Israeli Ambassador

Fairless Hills, PA—  August 15th, 2018, Congressmen Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) participated in bipartisan roundtable discussion Wednesday on strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship at the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce.

Joined by Ambassador Dani Dayan, Consul General of Israel in New York, along with Bucks County Jewish faith leaders, Congressmen Fitzpatrick and Gottheimer discussed their strong support for the state of Israel and commitment to helping protect our ally from regional threats, including the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza.

“Israel and the United States share a special relationship, cultivated and reaffirmed in word and action. Our dialogue regarding US-Israel foreign policy was both constructive and informative. I was proud to introduce my friend and colleague Josh Gottheimer to our community’s Jewish faith leaders.  Ambassador Dayan provided an insightful update on the Gaza strip and the need for a comprehensive solution for peace,” said Fitzpatrick. “As one of our closest partners, Israel will always have our unwavering support. Together we will continue to strengthen our relationship and promote peace and stability throughout the region.”

“For more than 70 years, the United States and Israel have fostered and strengthened one of the most extraordinary partnerships of the modern world. This alliance, rooted in our shared values, is also critical to America’s own strategic interests, from advancing stability in the Middle East to confronting shared threats including a nuclear-armed Iran and foreign terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. I was glad to join my friend Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Ambassador Dayan, and Jewish community leaders to discuss ways we can work together to keep the U.S.-Israel relationship bipartisan, which is the only way to ensure that this relationship remains secure for the long-term. I look forward to continuing to work with Rep. Fitzpatrick and our colleagues on both sides of the aisle in Congress to support bilateral missile defense cooperation, combat the hateful boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDSmovement, and help preserve our ally Israel’s qualitative military edge in the region. ” said Representative Josh Gottheimer.

Since August 8th, terrorists in the Gaza Strip have fired 200 rockets into Southern Israel.  Despite an unconditional ceasefire that began on August 1, Hamas militants have continued to fire missiles into Israel, many of them directed against our partnership regions, Netivot and Sedot Negev.  Israeli citizens have been advised to stay in bomb shelters, and in addition to damage to homes and fields, many people are being treated for trauma.
