Former Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian Announces Pride Month Event Co-Sponsored by Statewide Leaders in the LGBTQ Family

ATLANTIC CITY – Former Atlantic City Mayor and New Jersey Assembly challenger Don Guardian announced today that his campaign would be hosting an exclusive Pride Month event co-sponsored by numerous leaders in the New Jersey LGBTQ community. The 6 PM reception will be held on June 17, 2021 at La Casa di Martino in Roselle Park, NJ.

“I am thrilled to be hosting this special event to celebrate Pride Month,” Guardian said. “After over a year of being kept apart, I think people are craving a chance to see others and share in a sense of community as we begin to safely reopen. As someone who came out forty years ago during the AIDS crisis, it is wonderful that we’ve reached a time in our state that an open member of the LGBTQ community can run for state-level office.”

La Casa di Martino, an outdoor dining experience specializing in gourmet Italian cuisine, is owned by the family of former Roselle Park Mayor and Councilman Joe DeIorio. He and his husband, Thos Shipley, were the first gay married couple to serve together on a town council in New Jersey history.

“New Jersey should be incredibly proud to have an experienced, competent, and all around phenomenal former mayor from the LGBTQ family running for Assembly. I’m going to do everything I can to see him win this race,” Christian Fuscarino said.

“I have known Don Guardian for a number of years and am honored to be supporting his candidacy. The Republican Party needs leaders like him who will reach new constituencies and help grow our party,” John Traier, Chairman of Equality GOP, said.

If elected, Guardian would be the only openly LGBTQ member of the Assembly and the first openly LGBTQ Republican legislator in New Jersey history.

Capacity restrictions remain in effect. Interested parties should act quickly and RSVP to the event by clicking here.
