Former-CDNJ President and Treasurer Condemns Terry Endorsement of Bob Hugin

For Immediate Release

Today, Former-CDNJ President, John Bingham (2016-2018), and Former-CDNJ Treasurer, Karlito A. Almeda (2016-2017), announce their criticism of Demetrius Terry for his support of GOP Senate Candidate Bob Hugin.

Demetrius proudly wore the label of “Progressive Democrat” in his puerile endorsement video. As former members on the Executive Board for CDNJ, we do not recognize his credibility as such. Demetrius is an individual that represents the worst in New Jersey politics because he is self-interested and shows no care for the people of New Jersey. Additionally, he is a political blogger not an activist, as he has not made a single call or knocked on a single door in support for Democrats. Demetrius continues to fail as a progressive and has failed as a leader.

As a student, Demetrius was a former Republican, and participated eagerly in the Republican Party until it was not politically expedient to do so. After the falling out with the Republican Party, he had registered as a Democrat and has voraciously tried to secure employment with the Hudson County Democratic Party, but failed to gain and maintain employment due to his lack of professionalism and work quality. This can be observed in his resume where there is a plethora of “former” titles. Demetrius’ latest switch is representative of his determination to play childish political games.

Every election cycle, Demetrius publicly announced his intentions to seek public office. A common theme in his announcements is the dereliction of politicians playing political games and self-interest. Last year, Demetrius announced he was forming an exploratory committee in order to run for no particular office through Facebook Live. This year alone, Demetrius has publically pursued a vacant Jersey City Board of Education seat, announced his campaign for Board of Education, and announced his campaign for New Jersey State Assembly against Assemblyperson McKnight (LD-31). Demetrius represents a class of parasitic politicians working for self-aggrandizement and individual advancement. He is an opportunist that sees politics as a Television Drama Series. While he claims to represent progressive values, he supports far-right candidates like Leonard Lance and, now, Bob Hugin.

Demetrius’s selfish move to endorse a Pharmaceutical CEO that has preyed on cancer patients is another opportunistic play that puts the lives of New Jerseyans at risk. This is not representative of progressives and this is not representative of the Democratic Party.  Demetrius’ greatest public commitment and contribution is limited to social media posts that state, “we must do better.”

“No, Demetrius, YOU must do better.”

We condemn in harshest terms possible Demetrius’ political game. For the future of our Great State, the Supreme Court, and our Nation as a whole we continue to support Senator Bob Menendez.
