We are three former female mayors from District 37, who understand the importance of electing a strong, dedicated woman to the State Senate in District 37. Together, we proudly endorse Valerie Vainieri Huttle for State Senate.

While we wish that our coalition were greater, its size is a representation of the incredible need for more female representation in Bergen County. Out of Bergen County’s 70 towns, only 10 are represented by female mayors. Of those 10 towns, none hail from District 37.

As District 37’s Assemblywoman, Valerie Vainieri Huttle has championed the passage of landmark laws to protect and empower women, from New Jersey’s landmark pay equity law to paid family leave. Valerie has also been a leader in fighting for maternal health, sponsoring legislation to provide resources to new mothers struggling with postpartum depression as well as championing legislation to prevent maternal deaths.

Recently, Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle made waves with the introduction of landmark legislation to expand reproductive rights in New Jersey as well as her comprehensive legislative package to protect the rights of sexual assault survivors.

In addition to her work on policy, Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle also works to build the bench of female leadership, working to empower the next generation of women in leadership.

As co-chair of the Assembly Bipartisan Women’s Caucus, Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle puts partisanship aside to work across the aisle on issues impacting New Jersey’s women and families. Over the course of the past months, Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle has leveraged the mission of the Bipartisan Women’s Caucus to engage female elected officials at all levels of government to discuss issues of importance to our communities.

In 2007, Assemblywoman Vainieri Huttle launched her Young Women’s Leadership Program, a mentorship program for high school girls in District 37 to learn lessons in civic engagement and government.

Throughout her career in public service, Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle has been recognized as one of the State’s most effective, dedicated legislators. Valerie works tirelessly to empower and protect our communities.

District 37 needs Valerie’s voice in the State Senate. We enthusiastically endorse Valerie for State Senate and we ask that you join us.

Signed,

Sandy Greenberg
