Former LD-25 Democratic State Senator Gordon MacInnes Endorses Dawkins for Senate

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Gordon MacInnes, former Democratic State Senator and Assemblyman from New Jersey’s 25th Legislative District, has endorsed Cliff Dawkins for State Senate. MacInnes became only the third Democrat in 214 years to represent Morris County in the Senate when he won a major upset over then-Senate Majority Leader John Dorsey in 1993.

MacInnes is a former Assistant Commissioner in the New Jersey Department of Education, a former member of the Rutgers University Board of Governors, and a former Chairman of the Morris County Democratic Committee. He has also served as President of New Jersey Policy Perspective, a think tank that advocates for economic justice.

“Given the political climate at the federal level, we have a special opportunity this year to elect a Democratic Senator from Morris County. Voters will be going out of their way to replace Donald Trump and to re-elect Mikie Sherrill and Tom Malinowski to Congress,” MacInnes noted.  “Cliff Dawkins is a true-blue Morris Countian who starred at Dover High School and returned after his graduation from Cornell University to give back to our community.  He has practiced law at major New Jersey firms and contributed greatly to improving the civic life of Morris County. This is the year to replace a legislator who is an avid Trumper and an automatic party-line voter with a thoughtful and engaging citizen like Cliff.”

Cliff Dawkins is a Democratic Candidate for State Senate in the LD25 Special Election. Dawkins is an attorney specializing in Labor and Employment law. He also serves on several professional organization and nonprofit boards, including the Urban League of Morris County, the Garden State Bar Association-Young Lawyers Division, the National Bar Association-Young Lawyers Division, and the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Civil Practice.

Cliff Dawkins resides in Rockaway Borough with his wife and their two children.
