Former Rep. Tom Malinowski endorses Altman congressional campaign

Former U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski announced his endorsement today of Sue Altman’s campaign to take back New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District.

“Sue Altman has spent her whole career taking on entrenched interests in both parties in New Jersey, and she will be a fantastic member of Congress — principled, independent, fearless, a persuasive advocate for New Jersey, and present in our community,” Malinowski said. “I will enthusiastically support her in one of the few races in the country that can end the embarrassment of this do-nothing MAGA majority in the House of Representatives, and get us back to pragmatic, bipartisan governance.”

Altman worked with Malinowski during the last election to combat extremism by attempting to empower moderate voters to engage in the political process.

“I’m proud to receive the endorsement of the last Democrat to represent our district in Congress,” Altman said. “I worked closely with Congressman Malinowski while he was in office to fight to fix our broken political system and deliver for working families. We share a belief that the Democratic Party should be a big tent. During this moment of crisis, it’s more essential than ever that we seek to build bridges to those across the political spectrum who share our commitment to protecting democracy from the forces of extremism.”

Malinowksi’s endorsement comes shortly after Altman became the presumptive Democratic nominee to challenge Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District. It follows a series of endorsements from local Democratic and municipal officials, highlighting strong support for Altman from every corner of the district.

Malinowski was the previous Democrat to serve in this seat.
