FRANCO & MORAN FOR LEH TWP. COMMITTEE CALL ON VOLUNTEERS FOR  SPRING SEVEN BRIDGES CLEANUP DAY

(Little Egg Harbor Twp.) – Gabriel Franco and Shaun Moran, 2021 candidates for Little Egg Harbor Township Committee, are hosting another volunteer cleanup event at the end of Great Bay Boulevard in Little Egg Harbor. This is a recurrence of their service event from last fall where more than twenty-five community volunteers helped to collect trash and debris.

Great Bay Boulevard, also known as “Seven Bridges” to locals, is a natural habitat for the Northern Diamondback Terrapin, an endangered species, and is also a popular destination for hikers, bicyclists, kayakers, bird watchers, and naturalists.  It’s one of Little Egg Harbor’s local treasures, but unfortunately many visitors neglect to clean up after themselves, and bulk trash is occasionally dumped unlawfully at the site.

“I’m inspired that so people from all over town gave up a beautiful Sunday morning to join us last time”, said Franco. “Together, we removed enough trash to fill a dumpster and while there’s always more work to do, I think it was a great success. We look forward bringing our community together again and continuing that work.”

“Both our team and Clean Ocean Action hosted separate cleanup events at the end of Great Bay Boulevard last autumn, and each time volunteers hauled out a substantial mass of garbage,” said Moran. “It was heartbreaking to see the neglect in the area, but inspiring to know that Gabe and I are not the only ones willing to roll up our sleeves and do what it takes to change what we cannot accept.”

Franco & Moran will host their Seven Bridges Volunteer Cleanup Day on Sunday, April 11 from 10-11:30AM. Water, gloves, and bags will be provided, and a limited number of t-shirts will be available to volunteers who register for the event in advance by emailing info@LEHUnited.com.
